The port city of Valencia, on Spain’s south-eastern coast, offers a fantastic city escape. This charming city, which is the third largest in Spain, is steeped in history and notably home to the Llotja de la Seda, a 16th century Gothic-style civil building and renowned tourist attraction.
The most popular tourist destination in the city is the City of Arts and Sciences, an entertainment-based cultural and architectural complex and one of the ’12 Treasures of Spain’.
L’Oceanogràfic oceanarium in the east of the city is a great attraction for families here, as well as Valencia Bioparc, a 10-hectare zoo home to an array of animals from lions to giraffes. The area is filled with an array of museums, art galleries and markets – there’s plenty to do on a break to this vibrant area of Spain.
Valencia also offers some great city beaches including the popular Playa de Malvarrosa, an excellent urban beach in the north of the municipal district.
The city is famous as the host of Spain’s Las Fallas Festival, held each year in March. The event attracts visitors from all around the world to the streets filled with music, art, fireworks and the hustle and bustle of celebration.
Valencia is also famed as the birthplace of paella – which today, can be tasted through a variety of different recipes in its many bars, cafes and restaurants.

The warmest month here is August with an average temperature of 25*C, offering up to 11 hours of sunshine. The coolest month is January where the average temperature drops to 9*C.
