More on Navarre
The mountainous region is ideal for hikers and climbers in particular, with 50 natural preserves offering great routes and breathtaking, unspoiled sceneries, stretching from the River Ebro to the Pyrenees border.
Navarre’s capital city of Pamplona is a quiet, charming part of the region to explore, home to over a third of the region’s population. The city is best-known for the Running of the Bulls during the eight-day festival of San Fermin, which it hosts every July when the sun blazes down on the world-famous festivities. Pamplona has a rich history, today offering some brilliant buildings to explore, including Pamplona Cathedral and the Museum of Navarre, both popular amongst visitors.
The city of Tudela is another great destination to explore – easily on foot – located to the south of capital Navarre. Tudela boasts a variety of beautiful, historic buildings, including the medieval Tudela Cathedral.
The small region (occupying just 2 percent of Spain’s total land mass) is a brilliant quiet escape for those who prefer to relax and explore outdoors, particularly during its hottest months of July and August where high temperatures average 28*C.
