Holiday villas in Castille and León

The region of Castile and León in north-western Spain is truly an explorer’s paradise, offering a huge variety of breathtaking landscapes as well as historic cities, spectacular monuments, great vineyards and the River Duero meandering through a handful of its distinctive provinces.

More on Castille and León

As the largest region of Spain, Castile and León offers plenty of activities and attractions to fill your holiday itinerary, from castles to canoeing.

Its historic capital city of Valladolid, in the heart of the region on the Pisuerga River, is a fantastic area to explore here, including its Plaza Mayor central square.  The city is home to a handful of brilliant museums, including the Museo Nacional de San Gregorio and Valladolid Science Museum.

From vast plains to imposing mountains, the region offers a great array of natural beauties. A visit to Picos de Europa National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, is not to be missed on your travels. The park, which is situated between the Spanish regions of Asturias, Cantabria and Castile and León, offers fantastic hiking and climbing opportunities alongside spectacular sceneries.

Castile and León offers a huge variety of characterful cities and charming villages to explore – notably Ávila, Salamanca and Segovia, which are all UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The beautiful town of Ávila, around 70 miles north-west of Madrid, is known for its medieval city walls, while Salamanca is famous for its historic university, one of the oldest in Europe.

The World Heritage city of Segovia, perched beautifully on a rocky hilltop, is another fantastic destination, known for its historic walls and ancient Roman aqueduct.
