More on Apulia

Festivals take place throughout the year, usually involving local delicacies in the summer months, and are well worth seeking out. Known as the ‘wine cellar of Italy’ the region is famous for its rolling vineyards, olive and almond groves, sun ripened tomatoes and luscious melons – a real taste of authentic Italy.

The charming region’s capital city of Bari, on the Adriatic Sea, is a fantastic destination here, although not typically a tourist hotspot. The port city offers a beautiful Old Town, historic buildings, medieval walls, a pretty seaside promenade and a great array of bars and restaurants.

Apulia enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, with long, hot summers and short, mild winters. The hottest month here is typically July, where temperatures average 24*C and the region enjoys around 10 daily hours of sunshine.
