There’s plenty to do in the 25km-long and 12km-wide principality of Liechtenstein, which lies in the heart of the Alps between Austria and Switzerland. Home to an array of historical and cultural sites and attractions, the landlocked country may be small – the fourth-smallest state Europe in fact- but it won’t disappoint as a fun and interesting holiday destination.

1. Visit a fairytale castle
Vaduz Castle is the palace and official residence of the Prince of Liechtenstein, laying beautifully on a hillside 120 metres above the capital city of Vaduz. The buildings are thought to date back to the early 15th century and are now open Tuesday to Sunday for the whole family to enjoy.
