Local area
Italy, The Belpaese (Beautiful Country) is one of the single greatest places to visit on earth. From art to food, from stunning and varied countryside to flamboyant fashion, Italy has it all. Italy & Tourism are synomonous as Italy is a history lover's paradise with more than 3000 museums, churches and archeological sites dating back to Roman and Greek times. With 44 sites, Italy has more Unesco World Heritage sites than any other country on earth. Alongside Italy`s art treasures, you`ll find plenty to keep you busy in the countryside. You can ski in the Alps, hike the Dolomites or dive off Sardinia`s golden coast. Adrenalin junkies can catch fireworks on Sicily`s volatile volcanoes. The post-card like scenery that Tuscany has to offer. A row of cypress trees breaking the blue sky on a rolling hilltop. Olive groves and grapevines marching tidily down the side of a slope.
Umbria is often referred to as the green heart of Italy, an especially verdant region of mountains, rolling green hills, forests, tumbling rivers and lush farming land - Umbria produces fine wine, olives, wheat and tobacco. Umbria is one of the few Italian regions to have no coastline, and its countryside is green and fertile, much of it wooded and hilly. Umbria is one of those destinations which, when mentioned to an Italian, will provoke the lip-smacking comment: 'You'll eat well there'. Local delicacies include wild boar and the highly-prized truffle. Umbria offers the kind of holiday where you can take life slowly, savouring the local specialities, pottering around small medieval towns and really getting to know Italy.
Situated in the East of Tuscany and the West of Umbria bordered by the Apennines, the province of Arezzo encompasses the areas of Casentino, Valdarno, Valtiberina and Val di Chiana. Each of these, comprising unique landscapes where natural beauty blends harmoniously with historical heritage and masterpieces of art.
