Local area
Italy, The Belpaese (Beautiful Country) is one of the single greatest places to visit on earth. From art to food, from stunning and varied countryside to flamboyant fashion, Italy has it all. Italy & Tourism are synomonous as Italy is a history lover's paradise with more than 3000 museums, churches and archeological sites dating back to Roman and Greek times. With 44 sites, Italy has more Unesco World Heritage sites than any other country on earth. Alongside Italy`s art treasures, you`ll find plenty to keep you busy in the countryside. You can ski in the Alps, hike the Dolomites or dive off Sardinia`s golden coast. Adrenalin junkies can catch fireworks on Sicily`s volatile volcanoes. The post-card like scenery that Tuscany has to offer. A row of cypress trees breaking the blue sky on a rolling hilltop. Olive groves and grapevines marching tidily down the side of a slope.
Tuscany is located in central Italy and stretches from the Apennines to the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its landscape, artistic heritage and important cities, first of all Florence, make Tuscany an unquestioned protagonist of world tourism. Visitors to Tuscany come for many reasons. Many come in search of fine art, others to explore the extraordinary countryside. Gourmets and wine buffs descend on Tuscany to enjoy the simple yet wonderful cuisine and wine. There is a lot to see and do in Tuscany, the difficulty is really where to start. The more you come to know the region, the more extraordinary Tuscany appears.
Cortona is a town in the Province Arezzo, Tuscany. It is one of the twelve cities of the Etruscan League. Located at the altitude of 600 metres, it has magnificent panoramas to every point of the compass. It is near the city of Arezzo which was the location of the film “Life is Beautiful“ by Roberto Benigni. Cortona is blessed with numerous very good restaurants, many of which are just a moment or two from the main focus of Cortona, the central Piazza della Repubblica, dominated by the Town Hall and the steep steps leading up to it - the ideal grandstand for watching the busy little town pass by.
