Accommodation: The house is laid out on two floors, connected by a noteworthy wrought iron and travertine staircase. On the first floor there is the living area and kitchen while on the second floor there is the sleeping area. The distinct characteristics of Sienese houses with their stone walls, vault ceilings and terracotta floors were left untouched, but the house was enhanced with paintings, photographs, sculptures and various contemporary works of art whose owners are among the most important emergent Italian collectors. Inside the villa, many works of art, including Giacinto Cerone, Federico Pietrella, Basile, Andrea Aquilanti, Cannavacciolo, can be found. The environment is extremely subdued and the minimal furnishing lends itself to blending in with the allure of contemporary art. The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, a large oven, a fridge and various other appliances. The atmosphere of the living area (1 double-sofa bed here) is warmed by the stone fireplace and by the captivating notes of the piano. In the more private area of the ground floor there is a study with 1 single bed, Internet access, a TV, a stereo and a table, dating back to the early 1900s, originating from a Florentine carpentry workshop. 1 double bedroom. On the first floor, there are 3 double rooms and three baths, plus another bedroom with a French bed. Three of the four rooms especially accentuate the atmosphere of the sleeping area. The two corner rooms have a private bathroom in travertine, one with a shower and the other with a bathtub. Both have ample space to relax in and include wardrobes, which make the rooms similar to suites. The third bedroom is distinguished by its big fireplace and has access to the outside garden via a stone staircase. The home is equipped with an alarm system. This beautiful country house is located just 10 km from the historical centre of Montalcino.<BR><BR>The house is part of a 15 hectare (38 acre) wine estate and it is surrounded by olives groves, vineyards and oak woods. It has a panoramic swimming pool and stunning views over the Val d Orcia.<BR><BR> <BR>Montalcino has a good selection of groceries shops, a pharmacy, a post office, banks, wine shops and many delicious restaurants. The famous Sant Antimo Abbey, one of the finest Romanesque churches in Tuscany, is located just outside of town. Siena, Pienza, San Gimignano, Volterra, Cortona, Arezzo, Perugia, Orvieto, Viterbo and a wealth of sites and attractions are within easy reach. The countryside between Sarteano and Radicofani is dotted with monasteries and castles, and the Val d Orcia itself is a spectacular natural and cultural attraction. <BR> <BR>Facilities for horseback riding (20 km), tennis (12 km) and golf (60 km) are available nearby. There is also a beautiful and large bathroom on this level, very tastefully decorated. In case you did not already know (and we are sure you did), Montalcino is the location where Brunello (by far the best wine in Italy, if not the world) is produced. And from Villa Brunello at San Sebastiano, you are ten minutes by car and foot to the best wineries and wine tastings in Italy. We have counted over 50, and by no means is that complete. There are also wonderful restaurants, enotecas, and gelaterias nearby in case you get the urge to indulge off premises. Many of them have al fresco dining with great views. Montebello lies a 20 minute drive from the castle of Vivo d Orcia in the direction of Montalcino. It stands on its own and benefits of complete privacy. The house is reached by a 4 km country gravel road. The next village is Montalcino, a 20 minute drive away.<BR><BR>The old stone farmhouse dates back to the 18th century, having evolved over the centuries to what it is today, a charming building with many hooks and corners, perched above a widish valley with a fine view of olive groves and vineyards, and the charming hilltop town of Colle Sant Angelo in the distance. Colle Sant Angelo is a pretty walled in fraction of the famous wine center Montepulciano. A few traditional features give the house its strong character. Outdoor steps lead up to an arched loggia which opens onto the spacious living room. Another loggia on the ground floor leads into the kitchen.<BR> <BR>The house has been restored to the highest standards and decorated with exquisite taste, using a few choice antiques, comfortable sofas and chairs, attractive thick cotton stripes and checks from famous weavers in Arezzo and Pienza and pretty striped tiles produced on the Amalfi coast for the bathrooms. The pool lies close to the house, just a few steps below the pergola. This side of the house is exposed to the west and therefore benefits from the most wonderful sunsets, for which Tuscany is famous.<BR><BR>In Montalcino (16 km/20 minutes by car) a good choice of excellent restaurants can be found - a list is in the house. In Montalcino there are all kind of shops - supermarket, pharmacy, post office, bank. Famous private gardens are open to the public once a week and are well worth a visit (list in the house).<BR><BR>The hot springsTuscany is famous for its hot springs, the most spectacular beeing Saturnia at an hours drive. Idyllic villa in a wonderful position on a small hill surrounded by Brunello vineyards, within the national park of Val DOrcia. The property is set between the cities of Montalcino and San Quirico DOrcia (both are about 10 Km away), yet in few minutes you can reach the little town of Torrenieri (5 Km) where you can find the nearest shops, supermarket and restaurants. Originally built as a typical Tuscan farmhouse and converted into a private house by the current owners. Part of the main building is dated back to the 15th century, whereas the other was rebuilt in the post-war period because of the damages it went through. The full renovation of the estate has been respectful of its history, preserving the original structure of the house and as many architectural characteristics as possible. Some pieces of antique furniture in traditional Tuscan rural style have been included as well. The Villa is about 500 sqm on ground and first floors. Ground floor:From the courtyard you enter a large hallway that leads through archways to the other rooms. The kitchen is equipped with cabinets, a built-in gas hob, dishwasher, microwave oven and fridge/freezer. There is also a wooden table and chairs. The main characteristic of this space is a large brick built open fireplace, in addition to a big wooden table with chairs, two armchairs and the TV set. This room has also an independent entry from the courtyard through the main external flight of stairs. An original ancient wide arch (that has been recovered during the restoration of the house) opens into the fully equipped kitchen with gas hob, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, cupboards and a wooden table with marble top. At one side of the dining room, another smaller hallway leads to other two bedrooms and a large, fully-equipped bathroom with an oversized shower. The salt water swimming pool is 12 x 6 meters, and has a depth from 1.05 to to 2.4 m. It is open from the 15th of May to the 30th of September.
