The city boasts a beautiful medieval centre as well as a smaller but nonetheless fascinating roman quarter. Tremolat. 60 km. The large sweeping bend of the River Dordogne, so-called the Cingle to Tremolat is what attracts visitors, rather than the village itself. The views from the Belvedere de Tremolat are magnificent and the 180 degree view across the enormous bend in the Dordogne River is astonishing. Brantome. 65 km. Idyllic village on the banks of the River Dronne, known locally as the Venice of Perigord. Boasting a beautiful Benedictine abbey and a fabulous troglodyte cave with scenes of the Last Judgement carved in the stone make it well worth a detour.
