Surrounded on all sides by a seemingly endless expanse of open countryside with barely a neighbour in sight and yet only 4.3km from the sandy palm lined beaches of the bustling coastline of Costa Teguise, this traditional and beautifully presented country cottage is a charming and unusual discovery.

Sitting sedately at the end of an unmade country track, this villa enjoys an idyllic rural location. In all directions, the view ahead is of a sweeping panorama of moorland stretching out towards gently undulating hills, interrupted only occasionally by the white outline of a distant property. To the east, the waters of the nearby sea can be seen on the horizon.

Such apparently infinite rustic vistas make it hard to believe that amenities are so close to hand, but a drive of just over 4km reveals the lively shoreline with its golden sand beaches, shops, cafes, restaurants and water sporting activities. Alternatively, head some 20 minutes north through blissfully unspoilt countryside to discover the authentic fishing village of Arrieta, where traditional narrow streets house a collection of typical whitewashed homes and one of the island“s most highly recommended local restaurants.

Built by its current owner“s great grandparents and lovingly cared for by successive generations of the family, the house itself oozes character and a delightful sense of homeliness. Thick stone walls, colourful ceramics and paintwork sit alongside beautifully coordinated furnishings and a wealth of eye catching traditional features. Equally charming is the outdoor area where the swimming pool is surrounded by a rustic stone terrace, a wood covered dining area and a garden of bright flowers and cacti.
